So, last week I take my daughter to see 'The Dark Knight'. She's 16 years old and every once in awhile, she spends some time with me on the weekend.....not that often...haha. In any case, we get settled in and get through the previews. The movie starts and we're both really excited about what we're getting ready to see. All of a sudden, a screaming child erupts. And this wasn't just a child; it was a very young, possibly even newborn baby, a couple of rows behind us. The baby is obviously upset and continues to scream for several minutes. After about 5 or 10 minutes (what seemed an eternity), the mother finally gets up in disgust and leaves the theatre, only to return within about 15 minutes with the child. Guess what happened? You guessed it, the baby starts screaming again. This time she gets up in about 3-5 minutes and doesn't return.
Okay, first of all, a child starts screaming, any normal person would leave the theatre immediately. But then again, would any normal person bring a nearly newborn baby to a theatre...probably not. Additionally, would a normal person bring a newborn baby to a movie like 'The Dark Knight', where they will see and hear very startling things. Only a remarkably stupid person would do any of this. If you read this and you're thinking "what's the big deal", then you my dear man or woman are probably a remarkably stupid person. Don't feel bad though, because its my opinion that 60% - 75% of our wonderful nation is right there with you.
